Gabby and Dylan, where do I even begin with these two. They are the absolute sweetest humans to walk the earth. They met on good old Instagram and for the first few months they were long distance, while getting to know one another. Dylan lived in Nebraska and Gabby in Michigan, so they decided to finally meet in person, in the middle, Chicago. Fast forward a year, Dylan moved to Michigan for Gabby, they were in the beginning stages of becoming youth pastors together, and falling deeper in love while going to school. When talking about this shoot, we decided to recreate their first date, and venture to Chicago where their love story truly began. Dylan reached out to me, unknowing to Gabby and told me he was going to propose on this trip, and asked me if that would be okay? UHM DUH right?
I met the couple at The Bean, where they took their first ever picture together. We recreated this special moment and hung around and people watched for a little bit. The whole time Dylan was giggly and quiet, with the ring burning a hole in his jacket pocket. We finally ventured to North Avenue Beach, where Dylan and I had previously talked about him doing it. We got them set up and with the wind blowing Dylan sunk down to his knee.
Gabby’s reaction was priceless, and has my heart beating fast sitting here writing about it. The tears started to flow, her hands clasped over her face and the wind whipping her hair, she said yes to forever to the love of her life.
She couldn’t believe what just happened. All she could muster out was “I’m shook, what the heck, oh my gosh!” for a solid 15 minutes. I was completely overwhelmed with all the love pouring out and tears flooded my eyes. I can’t believe I got to capture something so special. I will forever be honored to have captured something so epic.
We warmed up in the car, while they called their parents from the back seat, not able to leave each others side. We ventured to the town house where they first laid eyes on each other. They celebrated by dancing and jumping all over one another and I just stood their and got to capture the authentic excitement.
Gabby and Dylan, Thank you. Thank you for letting me capture something so surprising and meaningful. I will forever hold these photos dear.
